Prompt: Talk about a time when you had to write a poem, whether it was for an assignment, event, or special occasion. What was the writing process like for you, and were you proud of the finished product?

I've had to write countless of poems. Some had to be haiku's, or free verse, or stuck to a very specific rhyme scheme, but overall, to create a poem I had to plan. I had to plan out what I was going to write about that way I could create words that could rhyme. I have a hard time when it comes to poems that rhyme because I have to stick with a theme. I like free verses because I can write about whatever and I dont have to stress about planning as much. When writing and planning, I like to pick a theme and then write down as many rhyming words that correlate and then actually write the poem around those rhyming words. It is not the most efficient however it works when I don't have anything else to write about. I was somewhat proud of my poems but only because I was shocked I actually finished a poem without going crazy.

Summary: Today in class we went over a poem about a writer and an acrobat. The writer of the poem described and compared a poet to an acrobat.

Reflection: Looking into poems and what they mean help strengthen my writing by allowing me to identify line of reasoning better. Diving deep into what an author means and how they use poems to describe situations by using figurative language also allows me to understand how an author is truly feeling while also looking into their reasoning for their words.
